The Secrets of Tattooing-Part Two

The second most important of the secrets of tattooing you should understand involves being organized. You will need to make sure you have collected all of your equipment prior to this time and ensured that each piece is in good shape and is a quality tool. Taking the time to ensure that all of your tools and equipment are organized not only helps you to be sure you can find everything when you need it but it also helps you to appear more professional. Stop and think about it a minute. Would you really want to go to a tattoo artist who had stuff strewn everywhere and had to stop every few minutes because he couldn’t find what he needed? Probably not. Therefore, organization is an important secret to tattooing that shouldn’t be overlooked.

One of the best ways to organize all of your tattoo tools and equipment is with your work table. Since this is the center of most tattoo activity it only makes sense to keep the bulk of your items here. Beyond storing your tools and equipment in your work table it is also important to make sure you keep this area clean. If you intend to enter the tattoo business as a professional, it is imperative that you develop a reputation for keeping things sanitized and clean. You can quickly ruin a good reputation by not doing this. Regardless of how good you might happen to be, few people will want to visit you if you do not follow proper safety precautions. So, avoid the hassle and keep your work table clean.

When setting up your work area, it is also important to make sure that not only are you comfortable and your tools are within easy reach, but also that your clients are comfortable. If your client is interested in a design that is very intricate they may need to be a position for quite some time and you want to make them as comfortable as possible. Consider adding some small pillows as well as providing a bench on which they can lie down. Even a workout bench will work for this purpose. Your clients will appreciate the consideration. In addition, this will allow you to work freely with your tools at the same time.

Always remember to go over your tools at the end of each session and ensure that each one is still in good shape, particularly if you use them often. Tools that are worn out and in disrepair not only result in poor quality tattoos but could also cause injury. Don’t forget to sanitize everything thoroughly and completely. This protects you as well as the person you are tattooing. Never allow your reputation as a skilled tattoo artist to become tarnished by failing to take necessary safety precautions. A good reputation is just as important as skill. Taking the time to follow these secrets of tattooing tips will ensure you are able to reach your goals in becoming a great tattoo artist.
